However, objectively I think we can safely say that this lake offers the best swim of all the lakes in Ruidera, for the following reasons:
It is not dangerous, and we can bear witness to that as we have seen the lake completely dry more times than we would have liked, so we are in a position to affirm that there are no drops, inclines or unevenness at the bottom of the lake that could give one a nasty shock when diving in. Moreover, we can verify, on entering the water the slope is so slight that we can almost reach the centre without being fully covered.
We can enjoy soft clean white sand, not muddy at all, and as we repeatedly step in it the enviable transparency of the water remains intact. This enables us to clearly see the schools of tiny fish that come close when we stop near the waters’ edge, and we enjoy the tickly feeling the fish produce as they play with the hair on our legs.
Another quality, far from negligible for those who are far away from their youth and not friends of icy-cold water, is the fact that in the afternoon dips you can delight in the mild temperature of two or three centimeters of surface water which has been warmed by the sun of our lands, in its long summer siestas.
Moreover, in reference to the magic of the landscape, little more can be added to the beauty of the photo that you are contemplating. You will have heard about its fields of rosemary, junipers and shrub lands etc. I recommend, taking care not to despoil it, that you locate some Scots thyme, which can be found in the immediate surroundings of the lake. Not with the aim to destroy it like has been done with some of the junipers driven by the Council, but to breathe in its delicate aroma, impossible to find in even the best city perfumeries.
